General Job Description

The Container Decorating Plant Manager is responsible for ensuring culture, quality, productivity, and cost control in our manufacturing environment. The Plant Manager will be responsible for oversight of multiple production lines producing millions of decorated glass and plastic containers annually. The right person for this position will work with the Vice President of Operations to develop strategies and objectives to maximize the customer experience, improve efficiency, and reduce expenses. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a culture of respect, employee growth, collaboration, and idea sharing.

  • Promote safety through managerial oversight and constant training on safety best practices.

  • Manage the team to ensure quality standards and production goals are met or exceeded.

  • Create and monitor KPIs and metrics to track department performance and operational efficiency.

  • Make process, staffing, and training improvements to continuously improve efficiency and service level.

  • Collaborate with Customer Service, Art, Accounting, and Logistics departments to provide support customer needs and ensure operational efficiency.

  • Meet weekly with the Vice President of Operations on overall department performance and discuss strategies for continuous improvement.

  • Troubleshoot, identify, and remedy operational failures using Root Cause Analysis Tools.

  • Create and maintain accurate process documentation, training programs, and periodic routines for all department personnel and procedures.

  • Promote an environment of education to promote a high level of expertise amongst the team.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Staff and train the team to ensure cross-functional redundancy and efficiency.

  • Create and support ongoing development plans for all department personnel.

  • Regularly monitor quality of work and process compliance and provide continuous feedback.

  • Foster a spirit of teamwork and collaboration within the department and with other departments.

  • Monitor employee timekeeping and schedules to ensure consistency in operation.

  • Complete annual appraisal and development plans with performance-based metrics and goals.

Qualifications for the Job:

  • Education: BS degree in Business Management or related field preferred

  • Experience:

    • Prefer ten (10) years of relevant work experience leading teams in a production environment.

Monday – Thursday | 6:30 am – 5:00 pm | $125k - $150k annually
